2023 Geelong Gold Cup Carnival bigger than ever.
This year’s Sportsbet Geelong Gold Cup will carry Group 1 level prizemoney for the first time in it’s history. Geelong Greyhound Racing Club is proud to announce [RB1] our biggest race of the year will be worth $75,000 to the winner. The Cup will again be run over the 520 metre distance on the inside track for the 4th year running, heats will be run on the 14th of April and the Final on the 21st of April. A few new events have also been added to the Geelong Cup night which are detailed below.
Geelong General Manager Ray Bartolo said “The club has a long-term goal to make the Geelong Cup a Group 1 event, and our partnership with Sportsbet has allowed us to take the first step in that process by making our marquee race $75,000 to the winner for 2023”.
Geelong President Brian Parkinson added that “The Geelong Club wants to promote the inside track and city type racing at a regional venue, we have boosted the prize money for our major race of the year to encourage the best greyhounds from around Australia to race at our track”.
