Tonight will see a field of fresh talent hit the track with the running of the Geelong Greyhound Racing Club Maiden Final over the 460 metre trip.
With eight young chasers engaged to run for the $7,500 prize, Ima Misha Doll for trainer Heather Collins has received the favourable box one for the second time running.
Last week saw the 25-kilo bitch fly to the early lead, leaving the rest of the field chasing her tail. Ima Misha Doll was able to hold off the Jason Thompson trained Shanlyn Violet to win in the fastest heat and personal best time of 25.91.
With the red box this week Ima Misha Doll has been given every opportunity to reproduce her performance from last week for owner Nicole Cachia.
“I like her chances out of box one. If she gets a clear run early she will be able to run her race in front. There are faster dogs in the race but if she goes as well as last week I can’t count her out.” Nicole Cachia explained.
“I think Jason Thompson’s dog Shanlyn Voilet will be hard to beat again despite having box seven.”
The daughter of College Causeway – Lever Footprint was the first born from her litter of 10 and stole the heart of Nicole.
“I wanted mostly boys from the litter so I could name them after Geelong Football players.”
So thinking on her feet Nicole lovingly named Ima Misha Doll Billie after Billie Smedts who wears the number two Guernsey for the Geelong Cats. Ima Tomahawk is also from the litter and is named after non-other then Geelong’s super star full forward Tom Hawkins.
“We had the mother (Lever Footprint) given to us and made the decision to go to College Causeway to use her Irish bloodline in hope of one producing a dog like Irish chaser Mildean Panther.”
With Lever Footprint’s first litter of puppies beginning to hit the racetrack now, already with three recording victories they are paving the way for her second litter to Bekim Bale who are now 10 months old.
The VBIS Maiden series Final kicks off at 8.08pm.
